Hypertension & Obstructive Sleep Apnea Webinar PowerPoint

This CME webinar on June 17th, 2009 explored the relationship between Hypertension and Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is one of the most under-diagnosed sleep disorders in the country, putting about 20 million people at risk for complications that arise from OSA, including hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Recent studies have shown that about 50% of people with hypertension have OSA and about 50% of people with OSA develop hypertension. Review this cause and effect relationship, the role of the primary care physician in referring patients for sleep disorder evaluation, and the management of hypertension during treatment for OSA by viewing the PowerPoint from the webinar. This presentation was created by Jacalyn A. Nelson, MD, Neurologist and Sleep Medicine Specialist, St. Mary’s Sleep Center.
