Wisconsin Launches New ePDMP

On Tuesday, January 17 the state of Wisconsin launched their new Enhanced Prescription Drud Monitoring Program (PDMP), available at pdmp.wi.gov .

The ePDMP is a new tool designed to help combat the ongoing prescription drud abuse epidemic in Wisconsin. The ePDMP enables healthcare professionals, law enforcement, and state agencies to work together to reduce the misuse, abuse, and diversion of prescription drugs and controlled substance medications.

The Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) is responsible for the PDMP. Starting April 1, 2016, 2015 Wisconsin Act 266 requires physicians and other prescribers to check patient information in the ePDMP when issuing a prescription for any controlled substance.

In an email sent to prescribers the DSPS outlined the new system requirements. Prescribers will need to register with the new site. Upon registration your old system login will no longer work. To register for the new PDMP you will need:

  • Your last name
  • The last four digits of our SSN
  • Your medical license number
  • Your license type (profession)
  • Your specialty or primary area of practice
  • Your DEA number

As soon as you complete the registration process, you can begin using the new system to look up patients and manage delegates.
