With your support, the WAFP-Foundation is making a difference for students, residents and members of the Academy. Through your support:

• Students to National Conference - Wisconsin medical students are learning about and solidifying their interest in family medicine by attending the AAFP National Conference for Family Medicine Resident and Students. This annual event provides them opportunities to attend more than 35 workshops and procedure sessions, connect with over 400 family medicine residencies and employers, and other organizations, learn leadership development skills and network with students, residents and physicians who have common interests. Through generous donors like you, we've sent as many as 50 students to Kansas City!
   
• Summer Extern Program – Each year the Foundation funds a minimum of two students, between their first and second year of medical school, to participate in a unique externship experience. The students will work in multiple settings – rotating between the WAFP/Foundation offices and a clinical setting with a family physician preceptor. Through these settings, students will gain experience in a clinical environment, leadership development, workforce development, advocacy and philanthropic activities.
   
• Stethoscopes for Residents/Residency Program Visits -Residents are hearing about benefits of WAFP membership on an individual level, as a specialty as a whole and from the patients that family physicians take care of every day. These visits include a presentation by WAFP leaders on a topic of the program's choosing that brings valuable information complimentary to each system's curriculum. Topics range from advocacy training and updates to value-based medical home concepts.

The WAFP is benefiting from you support of the Foundation through the funding of family physicians to attend and participate in leadership development training, providing member value through a variety of programs and services.
